Explosives Disposals Role Profiles

EDPWG publishes Disposal Role Profiles

The Explosives Disposal Processes Working Group, chaired by Andy Carr of BAE Systems Global Combat Systems Munitions and consisting of Operations and Safety Managers from BAE Systems, Qinetiq, MOD, Chemring, Roxel, AWE and Cranfield University, DOES PM and HSE have developed role profiles from existing practices across the manufacturing and assembling segment of the UK explosives sector. These role profiles have been developed in a systematic study of the requirements of the industry to dispose of explosive substances and articles as part of the manufacturing process.

The basic premise has always been that approximately 80% of the disposals activity of any one company or organisation is common to all companies and organisation in the same field; the remaining 20% is organisation-specific and should be left out of the published role-profile. The role profiles are for Manager, Supervisor and Practitioner grades and have been agreed as meeting the essential needs of all companies involved in the process.
