On 21st October, the Institute hosted a meeting of senior executives from the explosives sector titled “SUSTAINING UK SKILL IN ORDNANCE MUNITIONS & EXPLOSIVES” to:
There was a general acceptance for the sector to collaborate. It was agreed that the IExpE act as the agent although the proposal required amendment to better reflect the needs of those present. It was agreed that this forum would be able to apply appropriate Governance but this would require further definition. The funding of the IExpE proposal for a full-time DOES Programme Manager was considered and all participants gave a positive response.
The Institute will amend its proposal for the DOES Programme Manager and also the title and role of the governance body, but it is important to note how seriously those present view the enhancement of safety and business development through the demonstrable competence of the UK’s explosives workforce.
