Institute of Explosives Engineers (IExpE)
WelcomeIf you, your company or your employer are associated with the Explosives Industry or your job involves the use of explosives including, in some circumstances, being a member of your Country's Armed Services, this site is of interest to you. Brief HistoryFrom a humble beginning as a trade organization, primarily representing those in the quarrying and shot-firing industry, the Institute of Explosives Engineers today is the only recognized professional body that specifically represents the interests of those working with explosives, dealing with explosions or explosive associated events. The present and future strength of the Institute is the wide and growing diversity of the disciplines practised by its members. The explosives fraternity today consists of Engineers, Scientists, Logisticians, Academics and Legislators, to name but a few. A recent survey of our overall membership profile revealed some 25 different disciplines covering 20 industry sectors. To illustrate how diverse we are becoming, recently admitted is our first Glaciologist, an individual, who in his job with the British Antarctic Survey, uses explosives in very extreme conditions and circumstances. Membership of this Institute is not by subscription alone, unlike other related organizations. Individual membership for this Institute is based on the key criteria of competency and experience, while Company Membership is open to those relevant organisations actively involved in the business, and whose support we are most grateful for. What Is In the SiteThis site contains information about our Institute, how it is organized and what its aims are. It explains who may join and what qualifications they must have. Generally, entrance is by examination but there are some exceptions for those who have qualified on specific military courses. |
